I have been involved in making hip hop, R&B, and pop music for over 25 years as a producer and trombonist. You’ll find live horns (usually trombone) in all of my music, sometimes where you would expect it, and many places where you cannot. It’s amazing what can be done with sound, and I explore past its limits while keeping the musical foundation from getting too far “out there.”

I spent my high school and college years in the 90’s, so my specialty is bringing that boom bap spirit into today’s music. I wore out CDs of A Tribe Called Quest and De La Soul, The Pharcyde, Digable Planets…. and the jazz/funk that they sampled from. Being a jazz performance major in college, I’ve done extensive research and had mentors that helped me truly understand the relationship between jazz and hip hop.

Today, I draw inspiration from both current hip hop and the artists who keep the old school beat fresh. I am constantly exploring new sounds and techniques to create music that is both innovative and timeless. To share his unique approach to music production, I created Deadpanned Music to provide musical support for today’s media world.
